Welcome Prospective Master's and Doctoral Students of UNY

Yogyakarta State University is opening registration for new Master's (S2) and Doctoral (S3) students for the 2025/2026 Academic Year. These programs are designed to produce qualified educators and professionals in their respective fields.

General Information

Admission of New Students for Master's (S2) and Doctoral (S3) Programs at UNY 2025 is conducted through several selection paths with predetermined schedules.

General Requirements:

  • Master's Program (S2) applicants must hold a Bachelor's (S1) degree with a minimum GPA of 3.00
  • Doctoral Program (S3) applicants must hold a Master's (S2) degree with a minimum GPA of 3.00
  • Applicants must be graduates of accredited study programs
  • Applicants must obtain permission from their supervisor (for those already working)
  • Doctoral Program applicants can choose study methods: by Course, by Research, or Mixed
  • Master's and Doctoral by Course applicants must provide recommendations from 2 (two) previous study level supervisors
  • Doctoral Program applicants must have a dissertation proposal/outline; specifically for those choosing by Research or Mixed, recommendations from 2 (two) prospective dissertation supervisors are required
  • Registration fee for Master's Program is IDR 450,000 and Doctoral Program is IDR 700,000, payable through Bank BTN, BNI, BMI, Mandiri, BSI, or BPD DIY

Important Note:

Doctoral Program by Research or Mixed applicants must have a minimum TOEFL score of 500, reputable international publications, and research track record relevant to the proposed dissertation topic.


Registration Paths

S2 & S3 CBT at Domicile

Selection of prospective Master's and Doctoral students from all regions in Indonesia.

  • Participants take Computer Based Test (CBT) online
  • Test materials: Academic Potential Test and English Proficiency
  • Doctoral Program participants prepare dissertation outline
  • Doctoral Program participants must attend online interview after CBT

Requirements: Fulfill technical requirements for CBT at Domicile

S2 & S3 Portfolio

Selection of prospective Master's and Doctoral students from domestic and international.

  • Participants complete and upload portfolio documents
  • Documents: TOEFL/ITP scores, Academic Potential Test scores, academic works, achievement certificates
  • Doctoral Program participants prepare dissertation outline
  • Doctoral Program participants must attend online interview

Advantage: No written test

S2 & S3 Scholarship (CBT DEFER)

Selection of new Master's and Doctoral students to facilitate Letter of Acceptance (LoA) requests as scholarship application requirements.

  • Participants choose CBT DEFER Path
  • Follow all provisions as stated in the CBT path
  • Participants will defer studies (1 or 2 semesters)
  • Study deferral period cannot be changed/extended/accelerated

Note: Payment of Institutional Development Fee (IPI) for LoA

S2 & S3 Cooperation

Selection of prospective Master's and Doctoral students organized through partnership cooperation between UNY and government/private institutions.

  • There is MoU and PKS between UNY and partner institutions
  • Quota, path, and implementation time are arranged separately
  • Participants can choose CBT or Portfolio path
  • Tests can be conducted at partner locations

Benefit: Implementation costs are covered by partners

Master's Program (S2) IDR 450,000 Bank BTN, BNI, BMI, Mandiri, BSI, or BPD DIY

Payment Information

Registration fee payments are made through the available online payment system. After payment, the payment receipt will be automatically verified by the system.


Required Documents

Mandatory Documents for All Paths:

  • Legalized diploma and academic transcript
  • Recent passport photo (red background, 3x4 size)
  • Valid ID card
  • Recommendation letters (minimum 2)
  • Supervisor permission letter (for those already working)

Additional Documents for Doctoral Program:

  • Dissertation proposal/outline (specifically for by Research or Mixed)
  • Recommendations from 2 (two) prospective dissertation supervisors (specifically for by Research or Mixed)
  • Minimum TOEFL score of 500 (specifically for by Research or Mixed)
  • Reputable international publications (specifically for by Research or Mixed)
  • Research track record (specifically for by Research or Mixed)

File Format: All documents must be uploaded in PDF format with maximum size of 2MB per file. Photos in JPG/PNG format.
